Jorge Luis Romeu, Statistics Educator redball


Jorge Luis Romeu is a Research Professor in Statistics and Operations Research with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Syracuse University , where he teaches industrial statistics and quality engineering courses. He is also a Senior Science Advisor with Quanterion Solutions Inc. QSI, the lead team member operating the Reliability Information Analysis Center (RIAC), formerly known as the Reliability Analysis Center (RAC). At RIAC, Romeu consults on quality and reliability engineering, develops educational material for practicing engineers, and teaches Reliability Statistics courses. Romeu, is also an independent Consultant, in industrial statistics and operations research,

Romeu was a State University of New York (SUNY) Associate Professor of Statistics and Computer Science. He retired Emeritus in December of 1998, after fourteen years with SUNY Cortland's Mathematics Department. Romeu was also (from 1982-1985 and 1998-2006) a Senior Research Engineer with IITRI, the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute.

Romeu is involved in International Education. He created and directs the Juarez-Lincoln-Marti International Education Project. He is also a writer and Journalist . Selected newspaper articles can be found in the Web. He is also involved in Cuban Affairs.

Romeu holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in Operations Research from Syracuse University (1982 and 1991) and a Mathematical Statistics degree from the University of Havana, Cuba (1973). He is a Chartered Statistician Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and of the Institute of Statisticians, a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, a Full Member of the Operations Research Society of America and a member of the American Statistical Association, among other professional societies. He holds both ASQ Quality and Reliability certifications, and RSS and IOS professional statistician accreditations.
