Learn more about Shape Memory Polymers
7/8/2011

Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are a class of “smart” materials that can switch between two shapes on command, from a fixed (temporary) shape to a pre-determined permanent shape. SMPs function as actuators, by first forming an heated article into a temporary shape and cooling to fix the shape. Then, by using a second stimulus (i.e. heat), the article can spring back to its original shape.
